Charles Foster is the author of many books, including Being a Beast, which is a New York Times Bestseller, won the Deux Millions d'Amis Prize and the IgNobel Prize for Biology, and was long-listed for the Baillie Gifford Prize and the Wainwright Prize, The Screaming Sky, which was short-listed for the Wainwright Prize, Being a Human, and Cry of the Wild. He says of his own books: 'Ultimately they are all presumptuous and unsuccessful attempts to answer the questions ‘Who or what are we?’, and ‘what on earth are we doing here?' He is a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford. He is married, with six children, and lives in Oxford and a remote part of the Peloponnese.
